The Black Rock

Slightly different format for the walk description for this one!

The Black Rock is a rocky islet between Burntisland and Pettycur Bay that is accessible by (wet) foot at low tide. It is the site of the annual Blackrock 5 race if running is your thing.

I’m not going to give a route description other than to say you can start either from Burntisland or Pettycur Harbour and then walk out over the sands to the rock. The route from the Pettycur side is usually a bit drier underfoot and is just over a mile in distance.

Check the tide times before setting off as you don’t want to get stranded!

The Black Rock can be incorporated into any coastal walk along the beach from between Burntisland and Kinghorn or you could walk one way and get the bus/train back to the start.

Be prepared for wet feet and sand in your toes!
