Gartmorn Dam

Headed out of Fife on Thursday to assist a friend with a recce for a walk for the Balerno and Currie Ramblers.

An amazing day was had at Gartmorn Dam in Clackmannanshire. We commenced the walk from Forest Mill walking through woodland and fields alongside the mill lade.On reaching the dam we then did a clockwise circuit around the reservoir with amazing views across to the Ochils. Total distance including the return to Forest Mill was about 6 – 7 miles.

Primroses, celandine, marsh marigold and wood anemone all in flower plus daffodils and some rather attractive dwarf tulips in the sunken garden. Plenty of ducks, swans and geese enjoying the sunshine on the loch.

Finished up the day at the Muircot Farm coffee shop. Good coffee and cake and a selection of vegetables and other farm shop supplies.
